Telia Company is in charge of OM for almost 230 million euros

The Public Prosecutor is responsible for almost 230 million euros with three Rotterdam subsidiaries of Telia Company, international telecom provider. The OM criticizes the companies bribery and falsity in writing.

According to the OM, companies have been guilty of bribery and falsification in writing on the accession of companies to the Uzbek telecom market. In this case, from 2007 to 2010, at least 263 million euros of bribes would have been paid to the oldest daughter of the then Uzbekistan president. At that time, she was responsible for the management of 3G frequencies. The payment of bribes was done according to the OM by a mailbox company in Gibraltar. In addition, between 2007 and 2013, Telia Company would have paid more than 22.8 million euros to Uzbek charity organizations affiliated with Uzbek government officials.

It is an international affair. In the Netherlands, the FIOD launched a survey conducted in 2013 under the auspices of the Functional Parquet. Parallel to this investigation, a study was conducted by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Telia Company has not only settled with the Dutch OM, but also with the US DOJ and SEC. In total, Telia Company pays more than 807 million euros.
